Tu qi xian is simply a master of modern impressionist painting. He has strongly influenced a number of the artists in Art23 with his style and colour work. His work focuses on finding the beauty of the moment. The work induces a tranquil and meditative quality both in its creation and observation. He works with a mix of paint brush and palette work to build subtle tonal colours counterpointed by large textural highlights. The overall effect is to create work which has a strong three dimensional quality. His recent collection focuses on the state of water in China from the beautifully pure to the polluted.

He studied at Xiamen Fine Art College and runs an art studio in Xiamen where he has painted for the last 25 years. His work is shown in Tiawan, Beijing, UK and US.
