Great Affordable Art

Art23 is a dynamic art house specialising in the development of new art. We create art that is a little different, often quirky, sometimes challenging but always fresh. We are made up of 30 international artists drawn from the UK, France, Poland and China. We are all established artists who have been exhibiting and developing our personal styles for many years.

The main drive of the group is to show our art in an enjoyable and accessible way. Over the last 10 years we have developed personal shows to allow people to see our work in their own homes.

The Painting Italy Exhibition

The Italy collection is being exhibited at the OSO Barnes from 9th -15th March.

The work explores the rich interplay of light and shadows found in Venice and Tuscany. The three accomplished artists contributing to the exhibition are Edina Bernula, Gabriel Kyne and David Hancock. Edina brings a warm impressionist brush to her work of the reflected city, whilst Gabriel's collection is a strong colour and texture response to the rich landscape of Italy. The work of David Hancock is a beautiful marriage between loose line drawing and the impressionist painting.

Engaging in Conversation

Every artist knows the truth about how a painting develops. First he tries a technique he has used a hundred times before only to find that the painting has ideas of its own. So he works with that and finds he is going into unknown territory. A conversation has arisen between the artist and the painting. Back and forth it goes as the work becomes a unique piece that speaks of both the artist and a world of unknowns.

The development of contemporary art is a matter of trust. The artist knows his or her own skills but without the exertions of the Chaos Factor each painting would look much the same as the last. An artist who can engage in a free conversation with his work has the potential to produce great work with lasting value.
